Two things Waco, Texas isn’t particularly known for? Music festivals and surfing. Two things offered at the brand new Landlock Festival? Live music and surfing.
Set for May 3-5 with headlining performances by Young the Giant, Shakey Graves, Midland, and Cory Wong, Landlock takes place at Waco Surf, a water park that allows inland Americans to ride some gnarly (artificial) waves.
Arcy Drive, Cannons, Colony House, Durry, the Inkcaps, Jupiter & Okwess, LA LOM, Lily Meola, Matthew Logan Vasquez, the McCharmlys, the Nude Party, Pachyman, S.G. Goodman, Sun Room, Surfer Girl, the Surfrajettes, and DJ Hi-Tide round out the festival’s music lineup. Performances will be split between three stages.
Practicing surfers can’t ride waves themselves, but attendees can check out a competition between professionals Brianna Cope, Emma Stone (not that one), Sebastian Williams, Cherif Fall, Balaram Stack, Eithan Osbourne, Matt Meola, Ivy Miller, Cam Richards, Noah Schweizer, Albee Layer, and Heimana Reynolds.
The multifaceted event also promises horseback riding and pro skateboarding exhibitions. Festival grounds will be split into five villages with area-specific libations, including tiki drinks at the Pacific Village, Lone Star Beer at the Gulf Village, and green juice at the West Village. Themed farm-to-table dinners will be available each night for the first 100 concertgoers to purchase tickets.
Landlock Festival is presented by Noise Frontier, co-founders of Willie Nelson’s Spicewood ranch gathering, Luck Reunion. On sale starting Thursday, Feb. 1 at 11am, three-day GA passes start at $350 and three-day premium passes start at $750. A limited number of single-day passes will be available.
