The Texas Longhorns play their final two home games of the season this weekend, facing Texas Tech at 7pm Friday, and top-ranked West Virginia at 5pm Sunday. The Horns lost, 2-0, at Iowa State on Friday, to fall to 7-7-1, but just 0-4-1 in the Big 12; they almost surely need at least one win in their last three games to extend their season into the Big 12 tourney... The St. Edward's men (12-1-1) and women (10-1-1) are up to third and eighth in the DII national rankings, respectively; both look like locks for NCAA bids, with just four regular-season games left to play.

It's the final week of the MLS regular season, and also the last week of the CONCACAF Champions League group stage. The Portland Timbers, for one, are feeling the exhilaration, and the exhaustion, of battling on multiple fronts the way the big teams in Europe have to: After keeping their playoff hopes alive last Sunday with a 1-0 win over the then-league-leading Colorado Rapids, the Timbers need a win Wednesday night against Costa Rica's Saprissa to avoid elimination in the Champions League, and then another win in Vancouver in Sunday's MLS season finale to clinch their spot in the playoffs. FC Dallas is hunting a spot in the Champions League knockout round as well, needing at least a draw against Suchitepéquez in Guatemala Thursday night to get there, before trying to clinch the MLS regular-season title Sunday at the L.A. Galaxy.
