Ouch. The Austin Aztex suffered their most painful loss of the season Saturday night, giving up two goals in the last five minutes to lose 3-2 to the LA Galaxy II, despite being the better team for much of the game, and taking a well-deserved 2-0 lead into halftime. The Aztex host their next-to-last home game of the season this Saturday, Aug. 22, playing Orange County at 7:30pm, before finishing on the road for four of their last five games. The UT Longhorn women open the season on the road this week against Clemson and Miami, before next Friday's home opener against perennial power (and UT coach Angela Kelly's alma mater) North Carolina (Aug. 28 at Myers Stadium). The Horns swamped a pretty good Houston Baptist team, 3-0, in an exhibition match Friday; six-foot senior Lindsey Meyer is going to be a handful for anyone to deal with on set plays this season.

Champions League play continues next Tue.-Wed., Aug. 25-26, in both Europe and CONCACAF. Both are on FS1: Europe at 1:45pm and DC United-Montego Bay at 7pm Tue.; and Seattle at Honduran champ Olimpia at 9pm Wed.... All the major European leagues have begun their seasons as of this weekend. NBC is again showing every English Premier League game live across its networks.
