Beat OU ... again? The UT Longhorns take on the Sooners at 1pm this Sunday, Oct. 20, at Myers Stadium, in their final home game of 2013, and the final home game for seniors Gabby Zarnegar and Brenda Saucedo. The Horns (10-4-1) beat nationally ranked Baylor 2-1 Friday night, to move into the Top 25 in this week's Soccer America rankings... The St. Edward's men (7-1-1) and women (9-0-2) are ranked 4th and 19th in the nation in DII, after each winning a pair of road games last week. The men host Midwestern State at 1pm Saturday, Oct. 19; Monday is a doubleheader with McMurry; men at noon, women at 2:30pm.

Kekuta Manneh, an 18-year-old rookie out of Dripping Springs who starred for the Austin Aztex last year, last week became the first teenager in MLS history to score a hat trick, leading the Vancouver Whitecaps to an unexpected 4-1 win at Seattle.

Stunning finish Tuesday night in Panama City, as the U.S. came from behind with two goals in the last 90 seconds of stoppage time to beat Panama 3-2, knocking them out of World Cup, and giving Mexico new life after a 2-1 loss to Costa Rica seemed to have killed off their hopes for Brazil 2014. A late Panama goal had seemed to be enough to give the hosts a shock win, before Graham Zusi's towering header late in stoppage time tied it, and Aron Johannsson's winner a minute later on the last kick of the game, meant that it will be Mexico, instead, which advances into an intercontinental playoff with New Zealand. Broadcasters breathed a sigh of relief; earlier in the day, Business Insider reported an estimate that the total cost of Mexico missing the World Cup would be $600 million in lost TV, merchandise, and other revenue... Elsewhere this week, 10 more teams qualified for next summer's tournament in Brazil; the final 11 will be decided in November playoffs.
