Texas Rollergirls Doubleheader

Potential flat-track Roller Derby championship matchup

When the 2013 season began, there was some smart money saying this year's Texas Rollergirls championships could well come down to the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers and the Hotrod Honeys. This weekend could see a preview of that matchup as the pair face off in the final bout before the June 8 playoffs. Both squads are running 2-0 on the regular season, so a final victory would give either the all-important boost toward the title. But not so fast. 2012 champions the Hell Marys may have been slow off the jam-line this year, and they may have lost a lot of talent to retirement and the all-star Texecutioners, but the plaid-clad murder machine gave the Heartbreakers a close call two weeks ago. As they face the Hustlers, it's two teams burning to make a statement.
