UT Football Season Opener
A new football season and a new UT football column
By Mark Fagan, Fri., Aug. 31, 2012
The wait is over. Another year of college football is upon us. Here at the Chronicle, we'll be celebrating the new season by debuting a weekly University of Texas football column in the print edition starting next issue (online this week). We are proud to announce that the new column, "Hornucopia," will be penned by the one and only Michael Corcoran. If you are new to Austin or perhaps have resided under a rock for quite a while, then we'll fill you in on some of his résumé: Corcoran has been a mainstay of the Austin/Texas music scene for decades and has written for The Dallas Morning News, the Austin American-Statesman, and The Austin Chronicle (1984-88) amongst other papers, and he has published several books, including All Over the Map: True Heroes of Texas Music (UT Press, 2005). We're excited to have "Corky" on our team. So UT fans, enjoy your first game and your first win of the season, and we hope you come back to enjoy Corcoran's column as well.
Vs. Wyoming: Sat., Sept. 1, 7pm. Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, 2100 San Jacinto. www.texassports.com.
