UT makes eighth straight NCAA appearance

This will be the Longhorns eighth year in a row appearing in the NCAA Softball Tournament. Senior Lexy Bennett has been leading the way at the plate this year with team highs in batting average (.393), slugging (.707), and RBIs (52), with junior Torie Schmidt (pictured) right behind with a more than respectable .382 ave. and 14 stolen bases. Staff ace junior Blaire Luna boasts an 18-4 record with 16 complete games and 219 strikeouts in 150.2 innings pitched. The winner of the Austin Regional will advance to play the winner of the Eugene Regional. All of the games involving UT will be televised on the Longhorn Network and all of the games, including video for games not involving Texas, will have audio streamed for free on

Friday, May 18

Game 1, 1pm: Auburn (2) vs. Houston (3)

Game 2, 4pm: Texas (1) vs. Northwestern (4)

Saturday, May 19

Game 3, noon: Friday winners

Game 4, 3pm: Friday losers

Game 5, 6pm: Noon loser vs. 3pm winner

Sunday, May 20

Game 6, noon: Winner game 3 vs. winner game 5

Game 7: Rematch (if needed): 35 minutes after game 6 ends
