The No. 3-ranked Longhorns softball team enter its three-game home series vs. Missouri on a nine-game winning streak

The No. 3-ranked Longhorns softball team enter its three-game home series vs. the Missouri Tigers riding high on a nine-game winning streak. Senior shortstop Lexy Bennett (.429 avg., six homers, and a team-leading 41 RBIs) and sophomore pitcher Blaire Luna (12-1, 1.29 ERA, and 134 Ks in 81.1 innings pitched) are but two of Texas' shining stars on a squad that has won 31 of its 33 games this season. If that high level of play isn't enough motivation to move your butt on over to McCombs Field, Texas Sports is hosting a food drive at the Friday, April 6, softball game and the Saturday, April 14, baseball game vs. Oklahoma State. Bring five nonperishable food items and get a voucher for a free Texas apparel item and a coupon for a free Whataburger. Collection begins at 6pm for the softball game and 3pm at the baseball game. More fun at McCombs: Kids 14 and under are invited to run the bases after Friday's game, and there will be a pregame craft table for kids 14 and under and a postgame Easter-egg hunt for kids 10 and under on Saturday.

Vs. Missouri: Thu., April 5, 7pm; Fri., April 6, 7pm; Sat., April 7, noon. Red and Charline McCombs Field, 2001 Comal. $9, reserved; $7, adults; $5, senior citizens and youth. www.texassports.com.
