After getting off to a rocky start, 11th-ranked University of Texas has run off four straight victories and has won seven of their last eight games (as of press time). The sole defeat during that eight-game period came at No. 3 Nebraska, who'll visit Gregory Gym Wednesday for an epic Big 12 throwdown. Leading UT during this win streak has not been senior outside hitter Juliann Faucette but junior middle blocker Rachael Adams, who's has been posting some impressive numbers of late: She is No. 2 in the Big 12 with a .443 hitting percentage, and also ranks second with 1.47 blocks per set, and sixth in the Big 12 in kills per game (3.47) and points (4.28). Junior outside hitter Amber Roberson has also been outstanding during this run, posting a career-high 17 kills on .500 hitting in UT's win over Texas Tech on Saturday. Tickets for the game Friday against Kansas State cost $3 for all police, fire, EMS, and military personnel along with their guests (advance purchase only), and a costume contest will be held during the Nebraska tilt. Vs. Kansas State: Fri., Oct. 22, 6:30pm. Vs. Nebraska: Wed., Oct. 27, 8pm. Gregory Gym, 2101 Speedway. $4-10. www.texassports.com.
