U.S. Women win the Four Nations Cup in China, and more

The U.S. Women won the Four Nations Cup on Tuesday in China, beating the hosts, 2-0, after draws against England and top-ranked Germany. The U.S., without many of its veterans, got good results from several youngsters who'll need to play a part in the World Cup later this year (also in China).

The U.S. Men face their first serious test since the World Cup when they take on Mexico next Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Phoenix (8pm, live on ESPN2).

Over in Europe, most of the significant action this week was in cup competitions. Arsenal continued their resurgence by scoring twice in extra time to knock out north London rival Tottenham in a Carling Cup semifinal; they'll face Chelsea in the final. In Italy, Inter Milan extended their record win streak to 14 games and kept their 11-point lead over second-place Roma. Those two also advanced to the Coppa Italia final, Roma ousting AC Milan.

American defender Oguchi Onyewu will be moving to Newcastle soon, if he passed this week's physical. And following long negotiations, Brazilian striker Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid for Italian giants AC Milan. Not everyone is happy about the move, but Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti defended it. "Ronaldo is not fat," he said. "He is a very robust player."
