The U.S. National Team got off to a great start in the final round of World Cup Qualifying on Wednesday, with a 2-1 win on the road in Port of Spain, Trinidad – in a game that was really not nearly as close as the score would indicate. Contrary to what I reported last week, the U.S. did indeed have its first team available for the game, fielding nine Europe-based players who had not been available for the training camps leading up to the game. But the star of the game was 20-year-old Dallas Burn striker Eddie Johnson, who went way up in the air to head home the first goal – his sixth in just four games with the national team – and used his speed to create threats all day long. The Americans' next game is in Mexico City on March 26.
