Should the big guy, John Wayne, be more your cup of bourbon than scary monsters, Dallas offers a chance to dwell in his company this weekend, April 24-27, at the John Wayne Film Festival. Now in its fourth year, the fest has picked up its West Texas stakes for the bright lights of Dallas. For the first three years, festival founder Barry Tubb hosted the event in his hometown of Snyder, Texas, but the fest now begins a new era at the LOOK Cinemas in Dallas. All proceeds from the festival benefit the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
The opening reception will welcome members of the Wayne family to its midst, and Pat Green will headline the music at the opening party. The Wayne family members will also attend the opening-night film The Quiet Man. Other films on the slate include The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Green Berets, The Searchers, The Comancheros, Rio Bravo, The Alamo, True Grit, The Train Robbers, The War Wagon, and Red River. Ann-Margret will make a special VIP appearance at The Train Robbers.
