If Mr. Miyagi locked the Karate Kid in a cellar with a battered VHS copy of Kickboxer for thrills, Michael Jackson's "Beat It" for style tips, and a catering pack of Pixy Stix for lunch, he'd make The FP. And he'd set it in a parallel universe, where B-boys settle beefs with to-the-death battles on dance-rhythm game Beat Beat Revelation. A low-budget, high-gonzo Napoleon Dynamite-style spoof of the Trost brothers' Californian hometown of Frazier Park, The FP catches the tiny town's fake OGs through the lens of every Eighties action movie. The clichés are knee-deep and deliberate as moody hero JTRO (Jason Trost) is cajoled by his motormouth sidekick KCDC (Hsu) to face malt-liquor gangster L Dubba E (Valmassy) for the hand of his old flame Stacy (Folley) and the honor of the FP. It's a mixed-up rhythm, but the Trosts hit the beats.
