SXSWClick Gets Current
Multimedia Contest Selects Finalists
Fri., July 15, 2005
Formerly SXSWeb, SXSWClick opened up its second annual competition in May, calling for "all forms of graphic storytelling" in the interest of spreading the art of new technology on the Web, to mobile media, and, next March, across festival screens. Finalists, which are listed at left, were announced on July 1, and one winner (the People's Choice, as it were) will be decided by you through voting at www.sxsw.com (voting is also downloadable to various mobile devices). Winners will be announced July 29.
This year, the Al Gore-Joel Hyatt cable network, Current, which launches on August 1, is involved, cross-promoting the competition and SXSW itself at www.current.tv. A lifestyle channel "created by, for, and with an 18-34-year-old audience," Current will also hand out an as yet unspecified number of its Reel Current awards which, although the nascent network has yet to establish itself, seem to be aimed at aspiring filmmakers to SXSWClick winners. The award includes airing of the work amid network programming.
