Is it already that time of year again? That build-up period to the 1999 South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and Interactive Festivals in March? Seems it's so. Both festivals are soliciting entries for their upcoming competitions. Early deadline for submissions to the upcoming Film Festival competition is November 16 -- exactly one month off. Entry fees are $20 for shorts and $25 for features. And the Interactive Festival has also issued a call for entries in its second annual Web site competition. That deadline is December 19 and the entry fee is $10 for individuals and $20 for a company-associated site. The categories are quite numerous and if all else fails there's always the reliable "none of the above." Finalists in each category will receive free admission to this year's SXSW Interactive Fest and winners will get to have their sites linked to SXSW's. Info about the judging criteria and categories can be found on the SXSW Web siteand application forms for both festivals can be downloaded there as well. See http://www.sxsw.com, request a form via e-mail at [email protected], or call 467-7979...
