More than 100 protesters and counterprotesters, as well as dozens of police officers, spent Saturday afternoon (June 15) outside Leander Public Library to either condemn or support a kid-friendly, private Pride event put on by a local church. The event, originally intended to be a Drag Queen Story Hour, generated protests from the alt-right and caused the city of Leander to close the library to the public, but anti-LGBTQ (and pro-life) protesters still attended, causing queer and trans activists and allies to come out in response.
