Occupy Austin Protest

Participants with Occupy Austin's Overpass Light Brigade display signs with the message "LOVE > FEAR" on the overpass at IH-35 and E. St. Johns Ave. until police insist the group take down the signs. Before the group gathered, five APD cruisers were stationed across the street. After about 10 minutes the police confronted the group who then insisted on knowing what law they were breaking. Twenty minutes later police returned to the overpass with a Texas Department of Transportation employee who refused to comment. The police cited Transportation Code Sec. 392.032. which states "a person may not place or maintain a sign on a state highway right-of-way unless authorized by state law." The group left peacefully and no one was arrested.
