Here's a breakdown of a Travis County tax bill (major jurisdictions) for a "median-value" homestead for FY 2016 (est. $232,272), showing the percentage share of a property tax bill estimated at a total of $4,920.

AISD represents the largest share of property taxes ($2,612, much of which is "recaptured" to the state for redistribution to "property-poor" school districts). Next is the city of Austin at $1,051, and so on.

The Central Health portion ($224) is now helping to underwrite the new Hospital District, a major expansion of health care for Travis County.
