'Excuse Me, Form-Based What?'

With national experts in town for a two-day Form-Based Codes Institute training (www.formbasedcodes.org), the city of Austin has organized this public event, a panel offering "insight on best practices across the country" in urban design, followed by a "community conversation about form-based code planning in Aus­tin." Expect a focus on the Upper Airport Boulevard plan, which is being touted as the test case for a bold new vision for the city's urban planning efforts – trying to define zoning by building type and design characteristics, rather than strictly by use.
