Austin added homicides No. 5 and 6 of the year on Saturday evening, March 17. At 7pm, police patrolling near Chicon and 13th streets in East Austin heard what they believed was gunfire; upon investigation, they found 32-year-old Nicholas Jarmon dead on the ground near the corner of 13th and Poquito streets. Police have arrested and charged 22-year-old Parrish Wyatt with first-degree murder. This killing came less than a day after Chester "Omar" Mumford, 46, was found stabbed in the parking lot of an apartment complex just west of I-35 on 51st Street around 1am. At press time, police had not arrested a suspect in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide tip line at 477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 472-TIPS.
