Rick Perry Death Watch
Perry's Numbers Grow – in Executions
By Jordan Smith, Fri., Oct. 28, 2011
The state is scheduled to carry out the execution of Frank Garcia this evening (Thursday, Oct. 27), for the murder of his wife and a popular San Antonio police officer on March 29, 2001. A domestic disturbance between Garcia and his 21-year-old wife, Jessica, ended in a fatal shooting at the southside home the couple shared. Garcia fired three shots at San Antonio Officer Hector Garza – the first to respond to the home – before turning the AK-47 on his wife, shooting her six times. This will be the state's 476th execution since reinstatement of the death penalty and the 237th under Gov. Rick Perry.
