The Making of an Endorsement

Chronicle staff's internal email exchanges show how sausage gets made.

Short intro here: Last week we made a difficult endorsement decision, and we wanted to share with you some of the process that led to that decision. Apologies for the somewhat rough nature of the exchange; it's a (mostly) unedited thread of e-mails. As such, it may contain misunderstandings natural to such an exchange and should not be taken as reporting or as fact but rather the subjective (and wavering) opinions of people attempting to understand the issue as best they can. Therefore, many thanks to the writers whose not necessarily fully formed musings are presented here. Don't judge us too harshly. – Austin Chronicle Publisher Nick Barbaro
