NARAL Supports Bolton, Maldonado
NARAL Pro-Choice Texas PAC throws its support to the candidates it believes will fight for women's rights
On Oct. 3 the NARAL Pro-Choice Texas political action committee announced its endorsements of two Central Texas Dem women, District 47 Rep. Valinda Bolton and Williamson Co. District 52 candidate Diana Maldonado. Bolton, elected in 2006, is facing GOP challenger Donna Keel (sister-in-law to former Austin GOP Rep. Terry Keel). Maldonado is running against Republican Bryan Daniel to replace retiring Rep. Mike Krusee. "These candidates support commonsense, common-ground ways to prevent unintended pregnancy, such as providing our teens with sex-education that is realistic, honest, and medically accurate," NARAL Pro-Choice Texas Executive Director Sara Cleveland said in a press statement. "We are excited to be living in a time when strong female leaders like [Maldonado and Bolton] can seek elected office. They are an inspiration to us, because they are not afraid to fight for their rights, and all women's rights."
