Local members of the group Military Families Speak Out -- an affiliate of the national organization Bring Them Home Now -- will hold a rally in Crawford on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2-7pm, to protest the ongoing U.S. occupation of Iraq. (Crawford is on Texas 317 due west of Waco, 117 miles north of Austin.) For more info, go to www.bringthemhomenow.com.

Two days later, on Monday, Aug. 25, demonstrators (coordinated by the San Antonio Peace Coalition) will be at the San Antonio Convention Center downtown to protest appearances by U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (10am) and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice (11am) at the national conference of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
