Journey for Justice, a traveling tour led by opponents of the U.S. government's "race to incarcerate," will arrive today (Thursday) at Trinity United Methodist Church, 600 E. 50th. From 6:30-8:30pm, organizers will show a short video about U.S. drug laws and their effects on families and communities, principally those of color. A subsequent discussion will feature November Coalition (www.november.org) Executive Director Nora Callahan -- whose brother is serving 27 years in federal prison on drug conspiracy charges -- and Editor Chuck Armsbury, who has served time in both federal and state prison. Joining them will be Ann del Llano, Texas ACLU criminal justice liaison and co-coordinator of Austin's Police Accountability Project. The event will also feature performances by musicians Richard Bowden and Karen Abrahams. For more info, contact the event sponsors, Drug Policy Forum of Texas-Austin, at www.dpftaustin.org or 326-4396.
