The current breakdown in the House is GOP 222, Dems 211, Independents 2.

All 435 seats are up for election, but in only 27 races is there a serious chance of a seat changing parties.

Among the rest, the GOP figures to hold onto 204, Democrats 202, and two will stay independent.

Democrats will gain one seat in California, unopposed, and the GOP is favored to pick up two, in New York and Virginia.

That would make it GOP 206, Dems 203, with 24 races considered too close to call; of those, 17 are currently held by Republicans, 7 by Democrats.
