No council meeting last week. This week, on Thursday, June 1, the council will formally accept the report prepared by the Police Oversight Focus Group, which recommends civilian review of the Austin Police Dept. A briefing on the report is tentatively scheduled for 5:45pm, followed by a public hearing at 6pm. To read the executive summary of the focus group's report, go to www.ci.austin.state.tx.us.

Also this week, the council will:

direct the city manager to develop plans for funding social-equity initiatives with the revenues brought in by companies, such as Intel, that move into the Desired Development Zone;

propose the development of a master plan and zoning recommendations for the Rainey Street neighborhood north of Town Lake; and

re-zone the Pleasant Valley Sportsplex, currently the site of numerous softball fields, to accomodate a proposed housing development.
