A workshop for neighborhoods citywide, dubbed "Neighbor to Neighbor: Solutions for a New Austin," will be held this Saturday, May 20, from 8:30am-2pm at Martin Middle School, 1601 Haskell. The charrette-style workshop will focus on creating neighborhood-based solutions to city problems, providing information on how neighborhoods can work more effectively within the city process, and providing resources for neighborhoods to form formal and informal coalitions. The Trans Texas Alliance will sponsor a forum from 7-8:30pm on Monday, May 22, called "Can the Market Solve Austin's Traffic Problems?" The forum, to be held in the board room of the Lower Colorado River Authority, 3700 Lake Austin Blvd., will feature a lecture by UT economics professor Steven Tomlinson, followed by a question-and-answer session. The Texas Dept. of Housing and Community Affairs will hold a public hearing on the list of housing projects which have applied this year for tax-credit financing, this Friday, May 19, at 10am at the TDHCA Headquarters at 507 Sabine, in the fourth floor boardroom.
