Environmental activist Paul Robbins will host a reception to showcase the release of the 2000 Austin Environmental Directory, a guide to environmental information, products, and services in the Austin area, at noon on Friday, Jan. 7, at the Austin History Center, 810 Guadalupe.

Take two: An informational open house and public meeting (rescheduled last month after citizen turnout overwhelmed facilitators) on the location of the controversial Longhorn Pipeline will be held Monday, Jan. 10 at the Palmer Auditorium, not at the City Coliseum, as originally planned. The open house, hosted by the EPA, U.S. Dept. of Transportation, and Radian International (which did the environmental research on the gas pipeline) will be from 4-6pm; the public meeting begins at 6pm. The Lower Colorado River Authority will hold a public hearing on proposed lake safety guidelines from 6-9:30pm on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Lake Travis Elementary, 607 North RR 620. For more information, go to; or call 473-3366.
