Clipse

Waterloo Park, Nov. 9

Amid testimonials that "the meaning of a classic is defined" when their Till the Casket Drops in early 2009, Virginia Beach, Va., brotherhood Clipse made it its business Sunday night to cement the legend of its catalog. Bangers from Lord Willin' and Hell Hath No Fury cut deep to a herd of hip-hoppers finishing Pusha T and Malice's lines and calling out every hook. They bounced hardest to Pusha's ferocious "Wamp Wamp (What It Do)," the younger brother's signature dreads swaying side to side as he boasted himself the hottest "flow-droppa since Poppa." "These are two of the hardest records ever made," Pusha shouted, invoking howls from the crowd. Pusha and Malice rarely stray from the script, banging out line after line of cold-blooded metaphor in "Momma I'm So Sorry," "We Got It for Cheap," "Keys Open Doors," and the Ab-Liva featured "Cot Damn." If Casket Drops anywhere near as hard as Clipse flowed Sunday, another classic's headed this way.
