Back Porch Mary

Time of the Broken Heart (Smith Entertainment)

Back Porch Mary is best served with a cold six-pack, complement to the band's twang-fused rock riffs and ballads loosening 2am regrets. The local quartet's fourth effort opens on do-or-die manifesto "This Band" but settles quickly into the title's more disillusioned ruins with Mike Krug's burned vocals cutting bitter ("Harsh Light of Day," "I Won't Look Back at You") and broken ("Heartache," "I'm to Blame").
