The Bellevue Jubilee

Deep Dark South

Local "21st century vaudeville noir" troupe Bellevue Jubilee is more of a Broadway musical than a rock band. The six-member troupe led by Waitsian throat Ken Burchenal (aka V.K. Mountebone) and Masonic singer Eryn Gettys (Miss Kitty Wompus) plays in character, sings corny songs, and dresses in costume. Recorded by Lars Goransson, the Jubilee's debut is the kind of music you want your parents to think you're listening to: safe, dramatic, gimmicky. **
