Spurts proves Richard Hell's influence and importance on early punk rock. Spanning his entire career – the Neon Boys, Television, the Heartbreakers, and Voidoids – high points include a 1974 live version of "Blank Generation" from CBGB, an early demo of "Love Comes in Spurts" from 1973, and "Chinese Rocks" with Johnny Thunders on guitar. Brash track-by-track commentary from Hell with Robert Christgau and Carola Dibbell make this set essential.
