Memento: The Very Best of Dead Can Dance (4AD/Rhino)

Think of this as the best of a best of a best-of compilation. The dreamy, atmospheric brainchild of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry, Dead Can Dance took 2003's Wake, which summed up their 2001 box set, 1981-1998, and distilled it even further down to 15 tracks. DCD's music is as ambient as it is ancient, with Euro flourishes and yearning electronica. The perfect stocking stuffer.
