Pinetop Perkins continued his 2005 awards-show victory tour at the most recent W.C. Handy Awards, held May 5 in Memphis. Perkins, destined to be a central figure of Antone's 30th anniversary in July, took home Traditional Blues Album of the Year for Ladies Man and Traditional Blues Artist of the Year for being 91 and sprier than a billy goat. Boogie queen Marcia Ball joined Perkins in the winners' circle with her first-ever Best Keyboards Handy – the same category Perkins swept every year from 1992 to 2003.
