The Hole in the Wall's expansion (above) into adjoining former Aztec screen-printing shop has hit a snag. "It looks like they're going to have to dig up the street to run some water and gas lines," says daytime barkeep Brooks Brannon. Therefore, he adds, the Hole's owners have put that renovation on ice while they (re)open the Padgey House, a former icehouse and restaurant near Lamar and Town Lake. Though the Hole's new wing won't be ready for the Drag fixture's 32nd anniversary next month – the front of the bar, where the bands play, is unaffected – once it is, amenities will include both outdoor and rooftop patios, some 20 taps, and a full kitchen with familiar menu items. "I'm going to teach 'em a few things," says Brannon, who also appears up front Fridays in June (except June 17) as Horse Wreck. "Armadillo Nachos, Elfagators – things like that."
