The Other Side

Yes, Virginia, there is life after SXSW:

If You've Got the Money, They've Got the Time: The Broken Spoke's Lefty Frizzell tribute March 31 features Earl Poole Ball, Ted Roddy, Dale Watson, Bill Kirchen, Alvin Crow, and scads more. 8pm.

(Don't) Hang the DJs: Former Smiths rhythm men Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce's turn on Elysium's decks has been moved to 10pm tonight (Thursday). Cover is $7.

Let's Roll: Both Austin Roller Derby leagues hit the track Sunday at 6pm. The Texas Rollergirls invade Playland with the Pretty Please and Real Heroes; their Lonestar Rollergirls rivals do the Thunderdome with the Lifters and Honky.

Electric Avenue: Downtempo/ambient San Francisco vocalist/cellist/laptopper Rena Jones joins Laura Scarborough-fronted Austin sensualists Lila's Medicine and guests for a night of femme-flavored electronica Friday at the Caucus Club. $7.
