Dreck the Halls

Phases and Stages

Christmas Album (Rounder) Raffi is the undisputed kingpin of folk-infused, eco-friendly children's music that NPR-leaning parents love almost as much as their offspring. Though cloying at times, Raffi's organic, enthusiastic tone on this reissued 1983 collection is mainly an invitation to Yuletide sing-alongs. The traditional favorites are here, along with intriguing choices like Roger Miller's "Old Toy Trains" and a new song, Raffi's own "A Child's Gift of Love," which celebrates Christianity's greatest commandment in Charles Schulz fashion.
