A Crash Course in Brain Salad Surgery

By Ken Lieck, February 22, 2002, Music

In what should be a welcome change for those musicians who can't afford a coveted badge, SXSW has given new and special powers to the wristband this year. For the first time, band members who receive wristbands for the SXSW music festival will be allowed to attend any and all of the SXSW Wednesday panels, which will be organized as a set of "Music 101" sessions, says panel man Andy Flynn. The March 13 panels will also include a series of "Crash Course" sessions with music professionals including, Newsweek's Lorraine Ali, Warner Bros. VP Bill Bentley, ASCAP's Todd Brabec, Rounder Records' Ken Irwin, Island Def Jam's John Rosenfelder, and Bloodshot's Nan Warshaw.
