Our Ears Are Burning!
More alt.country Internet feuds
By Ken Lieck, Fri., Sept. 14, 2001

On the heels of the Charlie Robison vs. Brad Paisley feud reported (okay, started) here at the Chronicle, all hell seems to have broken loose around the alt.country Internet set.
Gourds vs. Derailers
The Gourds' Kevin Russell via the band's Yahoo! board: "[The Derailers] are the architects behind the recent Austin explosion, they came to town from Oregon posing as a fun little Buck Owens cover band with shiny clothes. ... They were actually working the whole time as liaisons between the city, real estate tycoons, and high tech high rollers. ... Believe it or not, these guys are power hungry and they are extremely dangerous."
Robbie Fulks vs. Pat Green
From Fulks' online diary at www.robbiefulks.com: "Pat Green is a disgrace to the legacy of Texas music. He is not fit to bottom feed in the waters where Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt swam. Pat Green is a fratboy turd in the punchbowl of Lone Star poetry. A dumbed-down Jerry Jeff Walker would have been unthinkable, until Pat Green."
