Hat Creek Burger Company
5400 Burnet Rd., 512/452-2025
Hours: Sun.-Thu., 7am-9pm; Fri.-Sat., 7am-9:30pm
The menu may be simple, but the beef is fresh with your choice of four cheeses, and this place has Blue Bell milkshakes, too. Check out the hand-cut fries.
This neighborhood burger joint is a great place to enjoy hand-shaped patties and a wealth of fried sides. And yes, that guy or gal pulling the tap or handing you some serious Frito pie was in that punk band you saw the other night.
2105 Hancock, 512/407-9305
One of several burger outlets operated by Austin's Hamburger King, Dan Junk, whose trademark has always been good, fresh food and friendly service.
5602 N. Lamar, 512/312-5361
The menu offers an exemplary burger lineup in the $7 to $12 range, with an emphasis on quality ingredients: buns freshly baked in-house, hand-crafted patties of freshly ground beef (or bison, tuna, or veggies), and homemade condiments. Any conversation about the best burger in Austin has to include Hopdoddy. As the local chain expands westward, we suspect that same conversation is happening in cities wherever Hopdoddy has set up shop.
