Pioneer Farms

Billing itself as a living history park due to its popularity with school groups who enjoy specialty programs about things like blacksmithing and hand-woven textiles, it is also great for random visits by grown-ups, too. Explore five themed historic areas, ninety wooded acres, and Scarborough Barn, where the farm animals reside. Go anytime on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10am-5pm.

South Austin Farmers Market

Gitcher greens (and more) at the South Austin Farmers Market. Every Saturday morning Tony Piccola and a small, dedicated group of organic farmers gather in the El Gallo parking lot to sell their lovingly cultivated produce. Some days there are flowers, on some other days you might find home canned jams, jellies, and pickles. But you'll always find the farmer who grew the vegetables and you can shake his hand. Open Saturdays, 8am-1pm in the parking lot. WIC/ Food stamps accepted.
