First opened in 1952, this 22-acre Catholic cemetery and mausoleum is owned by the Brothers of Holy Cross, the same folks who brought you Notre Dame and St. Edward's University. A historical marker on site tells the story of Austin stonemason James Doyle, who in 1872 deeded 398 acres of his farm to the Brothers; part of the pasture later became the Assumption Cemetery. (Doyle's farm used to stretch across I-35: Go stand on the access road and see if 1872 don't seem a long time ago -) Grounds are open 7am-7pm daily.
