916 Springdale #102, Austin, 78702
Hayley Gillespie is the founder and curator of this excellent venue that is the first in the nation to focus exclusively on original works of science-related art. Painters, sculptors, printers, scientists, and others from the local community, across the country, and beyond contribute to the changing array of themed exhibitions (Insects! Evolution! Dinosaurs! Lasers! Tesla!). The space is part of the buzzing Canopy studio/gallery complex on Springdale, where it also offers science-oriented movie screenings and a variety of all-ages classes.
That excellent gallery in Canopy presents a group exhibit featuring work by Texas artists who are inspired by any of the natural sciences as a majority of their current artistic practice. Which, lucky for the viewer, means that the talents represented include Laurie Frick, Jules Buck Jones, Calder Kamin, Cathy Savage, David Martínez, and more. Quant suff! Recommended! Through Nov. 26.
