Spider House Ballroom

2906 Fruth
Austin, 78705
This all-ages complex of rooms, stages, and bars just north of the UT campus on Guadalupe is a whole night out in itself. Open since 1995, the 350-capacity Ballroom connects to the cafe, its patio, and two outside stages to hold up to 2,000 people. The Ballroom itself, with its boutique red velvet and gold grandeur, has become a home to burlesque, boylesque, karaoke and comedy, DJs, the Austin Mic Exchange for budding MCs, plus the Chronicle’s own Karaoke and Chill pre-Valentine’s Day celebration. The cafe serves food late for post-show munchies.

Testify: Ties That Bind

Here's a night of stories of theologians and teens bonding through a late night game, the experience of a first-time BDSM party, growing closer to the family you have, finding the family you need, and learning that some ties are never truly cut – no matter how many times they have seemed to have been severed. Thu., June 29, 7:30pm. $5-6.

Mac Blake's Waterbed

That lanky laughmonger Blake (FPIA, 2013) and Devon Walker bring you the best of Austin stand-up, sketch, and more – with a swamptastic, campfire-scented theme that features Andrew Dismukes, Michael Priest, Nick Saverino, Abby Benes, Andrew Rosas, and more. Bonus: The Dark Arts. Thu., June 29, 10pm. $8 ($5, students).
