"...The most trying week of Kat Ramzinski’s life began Sunday night, shortly after 9:30pm, when the local comedian stepped out of her Northeast Austin home to walk to the H-E-B on the corner of 183 and Manor Road so that she could buy some ibuprofen for a toothache...."
"...Because Chillin' with Kat Ramzinski is what the show is called, and it's the regular Friday night show at the Velveeta Room – that venerable dive-bar of comedy on Sixth, right next to Esther's Follies – and Ramzinski's show usually has some sort of theme. It's not an open-mic sort of thing, this show: It's curated, as people like to say these days. (Ramzinski doesn't say that. If she's ever pretentious, it's about something other than this show.) So the show's got some damned good locals onstage, men and women regularly taking hold of the mic to bust your funny bone wide open. And there's been a sort of vague theme to Ramzinski's weekly slate of comics lately, we noticed..."
"...Walking back from the disappointment that her northeast Austin H.E.B. was closed for Easter, Kat Ramzinski was accosted by muggers who, lucky for them, were in sufficient numbers to inflict more damage on Kat than Kat inflicted on their miscreant asses...."
"...Two things you need to know about Kat Ramzinski:..."
"..."It's really hard to get away from Joe Staats when he's your boss, and he works here, and you see him at the clubs," says Kat Ramzinski, who's been working stand-up locally for five years and regularly graces Cap City Comedy Club's Monday night "Chick Schtick." "No matter where you go, he's like, 'Where's my rent?'"..."
"...With, as the first episode's competitors, Mindy Nettifee vs. Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, working the performance poetry; Kat Ramzinski vs..."
"...One scene that lodges an indelible shard of laughter in your brain features Marie's chain-smoking neighbor, a heavy metal mom (Kat Ramzinski) who spends date night kitted out in full King Diamond face paint, while her beau, as Swaynos points out, "has kind of an Insane Clown Posse thing going on. So it's like, whatever concert they're going to, one of them's dressed wrong."..."
"...Kat Ramzinski, comedian: Well, my mom and dad got me a badass Caboodle – like, straight from the Nineties – and ordered me some Gap Dream that's been discontinued. I think when someone goes out of their way to get you discontinued products, they're letting you know they mean business..."
"...Kat Ramzinski, comedian: My official statement is this: "The world didn't end because the mystical dragon fire creator, (Some call this God), was not through smiting us for our transgressions both on the field, and off. Yes, God is a football fan, although he constantly claims 'noromo'..."
"...GIRLS WITH GUNZ It's another GirlFriend Presents: This time (wo)mano a (wo)mano and you can register to compete! Hosted by Kat Ramzinski with Lashonda Lester and Arcie Cola, plus DJ Isabel J. Sat., Aug..."
"...We know that Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting has appeared at each of the five previous iterations of LAFF, and we know how lame we are for not having caught the terrific SBJM duo of Katie Hartman and Leah Rudick at any of those other LAFFs, for having seen them for the first time only at –yes, we're very well aware of all that, thank you very much, now sit the fuck back down, okay? Damn, we can't even … And, yes, we've seen Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting only that one time so far, at the OOB. But they did three or four sketches in that show, and they were all brilliant pieces, they were fucking hilarious, with those two smart & comedically fearless women tearing the hell out of a stage and themselves in the name of giving modern societal bullshit the half-crazed beatdown it so richly deserves. Bravo, Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting, whose name we sure love to say! Oh, right: Brava, rather. The feminine form of the word, yes. Because they're women. Because they're part of the Ladies Are Funny Festivalthat's happening at Spider House Ballroom tonight andat Salvage Vanguard Theater this Thursday through Saturday.Because the line-up of shows includes sketch and stand-up and improv from Austin women and from women from all over the country (like, who's from New York City? Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting!), women named Sue Galloway and Linda Stogner and Butt Kapinski (note: possibly not a real name) and Michelle Biloon and Sarah Kennedy and Ralphie Hardesty (note: not a woman) and more. And that's without even naming Kat Ramzinski and Kath Barbadoro, who we have links to recent Chronicle articles about. And that's without naming whole troupes, like The Band Wreckers from Dallasand The Bennets from Minneapolis and Austin's own Girls Girls Girls and Adventure Squad and –oh, hell, this is the Internet, isn't it? Just go to the LAFF website, already, and see the whole line-up for yourself, okay? And then, later, maybe we'll talk about the Out Of Bounds comedy festival …..."
"...I'm also in slight improv-love with Todd Stashwick. He's doing a late-night show with Jill Bernard and a bunch of other awesome people on Sunday, with live musicians." Kat Ramzinski (stand-up comedian):"From a comedy fan standpoint, I'm really excited about seeing Tim Meadows..."
"...We mean, look: There's the Kat Roast that we already told you about, where the irrepressible Ramzinski's stand-up comedy friends are giving her a "beneficial beatdown" at Spider House Ballroom...."
