UT's Public Arts Program Debuts an Ambitious New Project
Landmarks presents Ann Hamilton’s O N E E V E R Y O N E at the Dell Medical School
Arts Story  January 26, 2017, by Robert Faires
"...Except that the fog was actually a kind of translucent curtain that makes anything behind it look fuzzy unless it's in direct contact with the curtain's surface. So when this girl, Zoe, was having her portrait made, she was behind the curtain, and visual artist Ann Hamilton was on the opposite side of it, giving Zoe the same sorts of instructions that Hamilton has given to hundreds of other people she's photographed like this in the series of public art projects that she calls O N E E V E R Y O N E: "Step forward..."

Viva la Revolution!
Installation art may be notoriously hard to define, but its role in art history isn't. It helped change the way we look at art, and the Blanton Museum of Art's survey of three decades of installation art, "Blurring the Boundaries," provides a window on the revolution.
Arts Story  March 17, 2000, by Ben Willcott
"...Still, enough of a consensus has developed around installation for the Encarta World Dictionary to include a definition. It reads: "an artwork assembled by the artist involving the arrangement of three-dimensional objects or the use of paint and other media directly on walls or floors." Not a bad attempt for such a wide-ranging art form, but we might add that it "creates rather than represents an experience for the viewer." Of all the pieces in the new Blanton exhibition, Ann Hamilton's Linings probably comes closest to these definitions..."

You want a wall? Landmarks and artist José Parlá have a wall for you.
Arts Story  January 25, 2018, by Robert Faires
"...Sometimes this work is made on canvases, and sometimes it's made on actual walls – as with the murals he made for the One World Trade Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. When Landmarks, UT's public art program responsible for such works as Ann Hamilton's O N E E V E R Y O N E, James Turrell's Skyspace, and Michael Ray Charles' (Forever Free) Ideas, Languages and Conversations, commissioned Parlá to create something for its campus collection, it gave him a real wall to play with – the biggest he's ever been asked to paint, in fact, and that's saying something for an artist well-known for working on a large scale...."

Classic soul at the Continental; rock homage at the Saxon.
DAILY Music  September 4, 2007, by Margaret Moser
"...They’re seasoned rockers, all of them – tough as iron nails and hoisting the black flag in memory of those who’ve passed, including Bucky Ballard, Keith Ferguson, and Uncle John Turner. John Staehely’s presence is enough to give them platinum credentials – he’s played guitar with Bob Dylan, Spirit, Robert Palmer, and JoJo Gunne, which also featured the booming bass of Jimmie Randall, who’s played alongside drummer Mark Hamilton for years..."

The site covers 19 acres of rugged, rolling green terrain, and boasts a small lake, a creek, and one of the highest points around, where the Kennedys would take in gorgeous sunsets and 360-degree views of the Hill County..."

The breakdown of the Travis Co. primary vote suggests interesting possibilities come November
News Column  March 19, 2004, by Mike Clark-Madison
"...precincts registered not one GOP vote in this election. The Doggett Effect As often happens when turnout is unexpectedly high – particularly in precincts where voting is for most, at best, a very occasional habit – the rich got richer on the Democratic side. Few observers are surprised that Gisela Triana, Nancy Hohengarten, Greg Hamilton, and Ron Davis won, but few predicted such huge margins of victory and outright wins without run-off, for any of them, let alone all of them...."
