When I opened my mailbox earlier this week, I was surprised to find a two page, handwritten invitation to a rummage sale. It was carefully folded and tied with twine, a small white flower tucked between the pages.

This Saturday Epoch Coffee (221 W. North Loop) will host a rummage sale benefiting endeared barista, Lynden Lowery. Recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Lowery is currently undergoing chemotherapy. The sale will include art, trinkets, and other wares, with 100% of the proceeds to go toward his treatment and related expenses.

The benefit will begin at 8am and continue until noon. While I do not know Lowery personally, if the heartfelt invitation is any indication of the support and outpouring of love to be expected, then it is an event not to be missed.
