Crunching the numbers of Girl Scout cookie sales in Central Austin

Number of Girl Scout troops in the Midtown Service Unit, which covers most of Central Austin: 60

Number of Girl Scouts in the Midtown SU: More than 650

Number of Girl Scouts in Midtown SU who sell cookies: About 400

According to Kim Haddad, the Midtown Service Unit cookie coordinator, the number of boxes of cookies these 400 girls sold in 2015: more than 58 thousand boxes (down from about 70 thousand in 2014 and 2013)

Where the money goes for each $4 box of cookies:

$1.70 to council programming

99 cents to Little Brownie Bakers (one of two national licensed Girl Scout cookie bakers)

26 cents to council administration

43 cents to service unit

40 cents to troop

22 cents to development/outreach/fundraising
