› The W Hotel (200 Lavaca) celebrates its first anniversary with food and drink specials in both the Living Room and Trace all month long, starting Friday, Dec. 9.

› To promote the mission of conservation, recreation, and stewardship, Texas Parks & Wildlife joins with Central Market Cooking Schools (4001 N. Lamar) to present a class in cooking wild game and pairing it with wine, taught by Louis Ortiz. $60 per person; reserve at 206-1014. Friday, Dec. 9, 6:30-9pm.

› Learn to make doggie gingerbread houses at a party at Austin Terrier (3435 Grey­stone). $10; supplies provided. Sunday, Dec. 11, 4pm.

› Paggi House (200 Lee Barton) general manager Derick Wagle invites pet lovers to celebrate the birthday of his rescue puppy, Lucy, at a party on the restaurant patio to benefit Austin Pets Alive!. › Slow Food Austin presents a Masa Mojo class taught by Hector Gonzalez at the Natural Epicur­ean Academy of Culinary Arts (1700 S. Lamar), covering the culinary history of masa and tortil­las with demonstrations and samples. RSVP to anneh@slowfoodaustin.org. Monday, Dec. 12, 7-9pm.

Austin Monthly hosts its annual wedding cake competition for area bakeries and caterers in the ballroom of the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center (1900 University), with free appetizers, cake samples, and Champagne. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6:30-10pm.

Fusebox Festival presents a traditional Italian Feast of the Seven Fishes prepared by chef Sonya Cote, with by-catch fish from the Texas Gulf Coast, side dishes from the winter harvest at Springdale Farm, plus one of Charles Dick­ens' favorite punches re-created by mixologist Jason Stevens, in the Springdale Farm greenhouse (755 Springdale Rd). Holiday music by Graham Reynolds & the Golden Arm Trio. $125, BYOB; reserve at lp.thehomegrownrevival.com. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 7pm.
